What counts as a public service? ⌄
A public service is a local port (e.g. localhost:3000) exposed through a secure relay to the internet via a hostanywhere.io subdomain. Each exposed service counts as one, regardless of how much traffic it receives.
What is the Internet Gateway? ⌄
The Internet Gateway feature lets one of your devices act as a secure internet exit point for the rest of your mesh network. Other devices route their internet traffic through it — useful for accessing region-restricted content or securing traffic on untrusted networks.
What is the VPN Gateway? ⌄
The VPN Gateway feature lets one of your devices act as a bridge into a private network the mesh can't reach directly — your home LAN, an office network, or a datacenter subnet. Advertise one or more private CIDRs, and every mesh peer can reach devices behind that gateway (printers, NAS, servers, cameras) without installing an agent on each one.
Is Backup & Storage really free? ⌄
Yes — on every plan, including Free. You provide the disk (run the storage server on a Mac, Linux box, or Windows PC you already own) and back up your phones to it. Photos, videos, contacts, calendars and more are end-to-end encrypted on the device before upload, so HostAnywhere never holds your data. We don't charge for bytes stored on your own hardware.
What counts as a user? ⌄
A user is any distinct account (email address) that is a member of your network. The account owner counts as one user. Invited members each count as one additional user against your plan limit.
Is the mesh network always free? ⌄
Yes. Peer-to-peer mesh connections between your devices use WireGuard and are included on every plan, including Free. Devices communicate directly with each other through NAT traversal — no relay bandwidth consumed.
Can I cancel anytime? ⌄
Yes. Cancel at any time from your dashboard. You'll keep access to your paid plan until the end of your current billing period, then drop to Free automatically.
Do you offer a free trial? ⌄
The Free plan is always free — no trial expiry. When you're ready to upgrade, paid plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee.
